OUR COMPANY

We exist to translate leading academic research to leading industry practice.

Synact was established in 2022 through a technology transfer process with the University of Queensland and UniQuest. We hold the exclusive global licence to deliver the 5R Leadership Development Program, a world-leading framework grounded in the social identity approach.

Our name combines two roots:

  • Syn (Greek prefix syn): together, with, united

  • Act (Latin actus): to do, perform, or take action

Synact means to act together. It reflects our core belief: that real change, leadership, and performance come not from individual effort alone, but from aligned, collective action grounded in a shared sense of identity and purpose.

Our services include diagnostics and assessment, leadership and team development, and strategy alignment and organisational change — all designed to help organisations act together with clarity and purpose.

Everything we do is backed by evidence, shaped by practice, and tailored to the needs of each organisation.

What sets us apart

We bring together world-leading researchers and experienced practitioners. Our work is grounded in cutting-edge social and organisational psychology, and informed by years of working alongside leaders, teams, and organisations.

We specialise in applied research. That means we don’t just understand theory—we know how to make it work in practice.

What we do

  • 5R-Leadership-Award

    5R Leadership Development

Our award winning programme developed by Professor Alex Haslam AM alongside researchers at the University of Queensland and their partners, 5R helps leaders at all levels to CARE - create, advance, represent and embed a shared sense of ‘us’ within their teams, leading to enhanced cohesions, wellbeing and alignment.

  • ILI-leadership-assessments

    Leadership Assessments

Our leadership assessments include the Identity Leadership Inventory (ILI), a psychometrically validated scale (Steffens et al., 2014) used to assess a leader's ability to manage (team and organisational) identities in a range of national and cultural contexts.

  • 5R-team-identity

    Team Identity & Development

We help teams build a shared sense of “who we are” and “what we want to become”. Using psychometrically validated diagnostics and group facilitation, we support teams to map their current identity, clarify aspirations, and embed behaviours that strengthen alignment, inclusion, and performance.

  • strategy-development

    Strategy Development

Drawing on the Social Identity Model of HROs (SIM-HRO) (Haslam et al., 2022), we support you to design strategy that is coherent, identity-aligned, context-sensitive, and collectively owned. We don’t install strategy — we empower your leaders and teams to shape, own, and execute strategy that feels meaningful, mobilising, and achievable.

  • change-leadership-SIMOC

    Change Leadership

Grounded in the Social Identity Model of Organisational Change (SIMOC) (Mühlemann, et al., 2022), our approach helps leaders help teams navigate change by preserving who they are, while enabling who they can become. We support leaders to manage identity continuity and identity gain, reduce resistance, and build shared ownership of change.

  • leadership-coaching

    Leadership Support & Reflective Practice

We work with leaders and leadership teams to embed the principles of identity-based leadership through targeted coaching, advisory, and reflective practice (Brown & Slater, 2023). Our approach strengthens alignment, cohesion, and long-term capability. We support leaders to lead more intentionally, collaboratively and effectively.
